Construction timeline

The Rail Heritage Centre upgrade is a two-stage construction process that began in November 2008 and is expected to be completed in 2011.
Stage one has included building a new Roundhouse, the relocation and refurbishment of the turntable, trackwork and signalling modifications.
The final stage of construction will begin in November 2009 and includes the building of the exhibition facility, associated site remediation and landscaping.
In late 2010, installation and exhibition fitout to improve the display of some of the State's most valued rail heritage assets will commence.
