Our exhibition hall has a whopping collection of heritage trains:
- marvel at the gigantic Garratt, Australia's most powerful steam locomotive
- get locked up in the prison van
- experience the glamour of the Melbourne Express.
Step back in time in our 19th-century station building or experience the life of a stationmaster, fettler or signaller.
For the kids, there are regular days out with Thomas the Tank Engine. Plus there are heritage train journeys for all ages throughout the year.

Nestled in the heart of the Wollondilly region, in the foothills of the Southern Highlands, Thirlmere is close to many other attractions including historic Picton, Warragamba and Avon dams and the Thirlmere Lakes National Park – and it makes a convenient stopover on the way to Bowral and Canberra.
